THE FUTURE OF MEDIA

AN Initiative In Partnership With TANTV and Futurist Talent

Author: Adedayo Fashanu

With new media over taking old media, the future of media seems very oblique. Yesterday’s media was Television, Newspaper, radio but today’s media is more digital. From social media to podcasting and digital streaming platforms — what will tomorrow’s media be?

Is artificial intelligence going to take over?

Is something better than Facebook, Instagram and Twitter going to emerge? What about the notion of self-driving cars being more in use by 2021— the increased focus on ‘tech development to assist in direction measurement and attribution’ (adage.com). Imagine how much space and time that creates for people commuting to occupy themselves with a form of media such as podcasts. There is also the subject of how we utilize data as users and producers— of social platforms. Can we trust that our data is in safe hands and how does this affect the scarcity or availability of data collection and distribution? The business of media is also a major aspect to consider as we explore the future of media. How media houses make money today is different from how they did in the past and with all these new technologies, will media houses stand a chance at survival?

As we explore these facets and more, it is our hope that this initiative will provide tools for media startups and those in the media to begin thinking critically, not just about creating relevant content but on the futuristic ways content can be created, consumed, distributed and managed to create true impact as the world progresses.

Process:

● Conduct interviews with media experts

● Publish a full article on this
