Futures of Education 2030

Based on a recent published report on “Futures of Education for Industry 4.0 and Beyond” of Lee and Buckland (2020) that ‘in terms of which aspects of the education system would be affected by industry 4.0, teaching and learning (mean =4.32 out of “5”) receiving the highest rating, followed by connection to external learning resources (4.2) and knowledge production (4.12).’

‘Regarding the competencies that could enable students to thrive most in the future, flexibility and responsiveness (4.45) received the highest score, followed by creativity and innovation (4.4), collaboration (4.39) and critical thinking (4.37).'(Lee and Buckland, 2020, p. 16)

This echos with the experiences of Mr. William Shum, CEO Memorigin Tourbillon Watch that flexibility, responsiveness and external learning resources are important for knowledge production, business innovations and transformations. With passion in Buddhism, Mr. Shum has developed a peace in mind with wisdom under COVID-19 and re-thinks the ways to respond to the changing business environment with social responsibility for sustainable development.

Prof. Amelia, IPMI, Indonesia also mentioned that the key elements for futures of education are :1) integration the values of responsibility, courage, integrity and a concept of human being into the curriculum; 2) mindfulness for peace of mind to tackle challenges; and 3) a humanistic way to learn how to connect to the world for global citizenship.
