To Sustain with True Communication and Partnership

“The Low Touch Economy” (Board of Innovation, 2020 quoted in Baghiu, 2020) and United Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) #12.6 Responsible Production and Consumption with a sustainability report for disclosure have become a trend under COVID-19 for responsibility and sustainability. Not only the producers, but also the consumers are concerned the contents of a sustainability transparency report as our lives are affected by the issues of safety, hygiene, technology, income generation, the level of happiness and harmony.

The implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) since 2015 have been moving from a global scale into a local scale with impacts and actions, for example, SDG#12 which focuses on:

  • Encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle, and
  • Promote public procurement practices that are sustainable, in accordance with national policies and priorities.

Yeung (2021) worked on SDGs and related disclosure reports (2017 – 2020) of four selected industries and there are interesting findings – art-cultural business ranks the highest level among the other three selected industries of retail, service and IT.  It is time to re-think and re-learn the communication process and partnership selection with technology and art / cultural elements for a sustainable and responsible humanistic business community with impacts.

Under Covid 19, Mr. Shum, Founder of Memorigin finds a time to the Buddhism temple to rethink sustainable lifestyle with  Calmness and Inner Peace. When he obtained the SDG Enterprise Awards from JCI Victoria 2020 and 2021, he started to realize that individual peace and social peace enhance family harmony and the ways to contribute. This triggers him to participate the SDG Enterprise Awards 2021 again for balancing social needs with economic and environmental needs.
