Futures of Education – Grow and Glow with Teenage Communities for Impacts

The World Bank (2017) defines social inclusion as a “process of improving the terms on which individuals and groups take part in society – improving the ability, opportunity, and dignity of those disadvantaged on the basis of their identity”.

Following the definition of this social inclusion concept and an article written by Yeung (2018), Commerce Daily that the important factors for talent development under the “Belt and Road Initiative” include: employment opportunities, opportunities for further education, exemption from professional examinations, and prioritization of talent development in the new economy of the “Belt and Road Initiative”, such as project manager professional development, Halal certification auditor , United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs)  project certifiers, etc.

During a recent interview with Chief Executive (Mr. Ben Koo) and Administrator (Ms. Melbie Choi), Gratia Foundation Ltd. (http://www.gratia.org.hk/en/educationScheme.html) on 16th, Sept., 2021, it is found that they have 17 young people living in their Children Homes, obtaining desirable public examination results with 14 out of 17 entered universities to pursue their education in different provinces in China. This kind of encouraging outcome is based on their co-working team skills, individual commitment and proactiveness of members in the Foundation, and the volunteering groups.

“In the past years, we have organised on-going projects with commitment and support from volunteers from Hong Kong and the U.S. for the project of “Go with the Flow in Teenage Time” to nurture positive values to children, helping young people to build a positive mindset for the future. Besides “Go with the Flow in Teenage Time”, the new projects named “Mentor Scheme” and “Growth Scheme” also offer help to children to identify their career path to sustain their studies and lives”, said Mr Koo.
