Author – S.M.C. Yeung

In order to create a learning community without age limit and connection to the neighborhood, this article is to draw our attention to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) 3 – Well Being, boosting the happiness of learning with new technology and cultural understanding to create synergy with economic impacts and to release stress from life, career and family. Hence, the future of the school library is suggested to be reached by the public to nurture a learning society to improve the quality of life with community re-connected to visualize the six principles of UNPRME – purpose, values, research, methods, dialogue and partnership.

The main concept of the community-based strategy for creating a learning society is to create a New Identity of Integrated Living with Wellness and Diversity. A sense of wellness starts from caring and appreciating nature and understanding the co-existence of nature and the building design around the community.

For example: – More open space within the setting of a school library for cultural activities; – More transparency-designed rooms with latest technological devices to link up with the concerns of the community, for example, healthcare and anti-aging are needed for future talent development with economic impacts; – Bamboo and natural building materials used for a park around the library for organizing parent-kid jam art / mid-aged and teenage community activities; and – American style coffee shop mixed with Asian authentic food workshop to appreciate craftsmanship for cultural exchange.

“Future SchoolLIb is not only a place to learn, but also a place full of engagement and re-connection to generate innovative ideas for harmony. ” (Yeung, 2019)
